Thoughts From the Fishbowl

What is with this Erin Quinn broad? This amateur New Paltz times writer really is something else. We hear Erin uses her articles to go after Zimet's political enemies, first Sennett and now Brittany Turner. In a recent article in the Sunday NY Times regarding the NP town board race, Quinn went after Turner's DWI, which had no relevance to the story at hand but the attack on Britt did make Zimet all wet and wild (yuck)! Why the NY Times allowed Quinn to correspond for them is still a mystery to us. I mean really what ever happened to responsible journalism that tries to be remotely fair and even handed?

Speaking of Sue Zimet we hear this blog was mentioned at a Criminal Justice committee meeting last week after Zimet whined over the treatment she has received on this blog. Zimet was just trying to cover the comments that she made against the fine hard working members of the URGENT task force. Zimet's beef was that her comments were leaked to this blog by someone on that committee....umm, it's a public meeting, you making a political gaff is not privileged, so think twice before you attack the police or make asinine comments. We can't wait until someone primaries Zimet, word on the street is a team has already been formed.

We are happy to see that Elliott Auerbach has taken a small lead in the race for County Comptroller and we hope that it holds up.

Moving to the City of Kingston what is going on with council Democrats? Does loyalty mean nothing to them? Of course we speak of the Democratic Aldermen throwing Mayor Jim Sottile under the bus during the budget process these past few months. Funny last year, they all had their hand out asking him for money and support for their respective campaigns. Jim Sottile is the leader of their party and deserves their support, it's disgraceful to watch these guys attack him to score a few points in the Daily Disappointment. It's called leadership, my friend, man up like Sottile has and show some.

Sottile is a big piece of fucking shit.

If Sottile had, "man up", he would not have thrown the Common Council and the taxpayers of the City of Kingston under the bus to begin with!

Let me tell you something, Erin Quinn is a terrific journalist, & NOT an amateur. She has been covering New Paltz for years & is a locally born person. She knows the players & the games played, very well.

If she wrote these things about Brittany , Zimet & whomever else,, then it was all true. She has ethics, facts & profwessionalism !

Much more than most blogs i read!

Give it a rest. Sottile is a jackass. If he and Cahill ran again, Cahill would kick his tail.

Ms. Quinn is great at being Zimet's puppet. Other then that we have no respect for her.

I thought Zimet and Turner were buddies??? or at the very least fond of each other??

I have never read Quinn's work before so I googled the NY Times article and read it.

I think that Turner's DWI is absolutely relevant. If you haven't read the article that Turner wrote for Ulster Publishing regarding keeping the bars open longer, you should.

http://www.ulsterpublishing.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=article&articleID=463070

After writing an article like that, then getting a DWI, and then running for public office - the article and the DWI are absolutely relevant.

Regarding Kingston, there is NO party loyalty anywhere, only people who want to know what is in it for them. Look at Auerbach, Hein ditched him like a used tissue and hooked up with Quigley because he thought it would be good for him.

Hein bet on the wrong horse. Auerbach is going to win.
There are no Democrats, no Republicans, only people who align themselves with each other to try and get more power. Democrats aligning with Republicans and Republicans aligning with Democrats is the norm.

Frenemies are everywhere.

The article in the times was a dig at Brittany by Quinn. I personally overheard Quinn say that Brittany was not going to like her next article.

As for Zimet and Britt, they were close until Brittany made the mistake of disagreeing on an issue with Susan.

Zimet can not take criticism. To paraphrase something Zimet said not to long ago: Hey, Sue, why don't you learn to take constructive criticism without being such a cunt.

Did Mrs. Turner run for NP Town Board or village?

You post that it is a disgrace for the democrats to go after Sotile, but yet you have no problem dissing everyone else. PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN GLASS HOUSE SHOULDN'T THROW STONES

I hear one of the Parete's - Robert, is contemplating running against Nina Postupack.

Any thoughts on that? Parete would get Dem, Indy, and Working families lines. He beats Nina and would have some quiet GOP support.

Some GOPers are ticked at Nina.

Your criticism of the New Paltz Times and its reporter are legitimate, but you get the details wrong. The real question is, why did Ms. Quinn see fit to report Brittany Turner's DWI arrest in the NY Times, but not the NP Times? A candidate running for public office gets arrested, that's absolutely relevant. Especially one who opposes earlier bar closings and gets to use the pages of the NP Times to rant about it and slander her opponents (she suggested they are all racists because they're concerned about outsiders coming to NP for late drinking and surely outsiders is code for "black people" right?) The NP Times, Quinn, and Turner should all be ashamed of themselves.

EXCELLENT QUESTION there, 12:33pm.
